You are not alone! Jesus is Immanuel (God-with-us) and he remains with us always. "They will call him Immanuel” (which means 'God with us')" (Matthew 1:23). "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:20).

At First United Methodist Church, we want to know God and be followers of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. We seek to represent Jesus in our life together and in our lives as individuals. We offer worship at 10:00 am on Sundays, with Sunday School at 9:00 am. We invite you to join us.

  • Backpack Sunday

    All Students, Educators and Parents are welcome to bring Backpacks/Lunchboxes on Sunday, August 9th to receive a blessing as we pray for the coming school year!

  • Annual Back to School Pool Party

    Back to School Annual Pool Party is August 9th from 4-6pm at the Splash Pool in Sherman. Vans will be leaving at 3:30pm.

  • Pastor Study

    Our Wednesday Night Pastor's Study resumes August 19 at 6 p.m. The study is on The Millennial Narrative: Sharing a Good Life with the Next Generation by Jaco J. Hamman. 

     

    This study uses the Book of Joel to highlight the challenges and desires of millennials seeking out "a good life." If you are an older adult you may learn ways that you and the Church can empathize with the struggles of younger people. If you are a younger person, this study may give you tools and language to ask the church for what you need with the hope that all will flourish together.

     

    This course qualifies as a Lay Servant Ministries advanced course, but anyone is welcome to attend. The course is offered hybrid, in-person and Zoom. Contact the Church office for more info.

    Once a month at a restaurant in Durant, you can join Pastor John at noon for fellowship and lunch.  Please signup on the Connect Table so we know you are joining us.

  • Care Team

    The FUMC Care Team meets monthly in the Fidelis classroom and is lead by LeAnne Dowell.  The Care Team offers support for people within our church family in times of illness, bereavement, and extended confinement. Volunteers are always needed to bring  meals, write cards, and visit nursing home and home-bound members.  If you know someone in our church family that would benefit from this ministry or if you would like to volunteer, please contact the church office for more info.

  • Primetimers

    The PrimeTimers meet first and third Mondays from 10am-noon.

    We share a devotional and play Mexican Train (Dominoes). Don’t know how to play, someone will teach you.
